Technical Documentation
Manuals, guides and reference pages for D-Secure Drive Eraser and File Eraser, with a map of which document to read for the job in front of you.
D-Secure documentation is organised in layers. At the top are the complete manuals: one per product, written to be read from start to finish or printed and kept beside the bench where drives are erased. Below them is the help manual library, which breaks the same material into short pages you can open for a single procedure. Alongside both sit reference pages that are not tied to one product: the FAQs, the guide to verification methods, troubleshooting, and the report verification page.
Most people need two documents at most. If you are setting up a product for the first time, start with its complete manual. If you already use it and something is not working, go to common issues first and the manual second. If your question is about evidence rather than operation (what a report contains, or how someone outside your organisation can check one), the verification pages answer it directly.
Products Guides
Get up and running quickly with step-by-step product guides and complete manuals.
D-Secure File Eraser Setup
Install File Eraser, activate the licence, erase selected files, folders or free space, and save the signed report.
D-Secure Drive Eraser Setup
Create the bootable USB, start the target machine from it, select the drives, choose a NIST SP 800-88 Clear or Purge method, and collect the report.
D-Secure Drive Verifier Setup
Start the verifier from USB, PXE or the desktop app, select the erased drives, run the read-back check, and save the signed verification report.
D-Secure Autopilot Detection Setup
Run the Autopilot Detection tool on a device, check its Windows Autopilot and MDM enrollment status, and find the result in the cloud console.
D-Secure Drive Diagnostic Setup
Hardware tests and drive health checks for the Drive Eraser Diagnostic add-on, with an A to D grade for each machine.
What Documentation Is Available
Six kinds of documentation, each written for a different moment in the life of a deployment.
Complete product manuals
One long, printable manual per product. Each covers what the product does, installation or boot preparation, licence activation, every step of a job, and reports.
- File Eraser: files and folders, free space, system traces, scheduled tasks, report search
- Drive Eraser: USB boot, drive detection, method selection, verification level, network setup, report upload
- Drive Eraser Diagnostic & Health add-on: component tests and graded reports
Help manual library
Shorter topic pages grouped by task, for when you need one procedure rather than the whole manual.
- Getting started, system requirements and installation
- Licence activation and first-time setup
- Report management and schedule settings
- Troubleshooting and common errors
Technical documentation
Background for architects and security teams planning a rollout: the components of the solution, supported media and a phased implementation approach.
- Erasure engine, verification and the central management console
- Supported storage media
- Assessment, pilot and rollout phases
FAQs
Short, direct answers about products, standards, licensing, reports and limits. A good first stop before opening a manual.
- Which products are available today
- Clear, Purge and Destroy explained
- How Drive Eraser and File Eraser are licensed
Verification and reports
How erasures are verified, what the signed report contains, and how anyone can check that a report is genuine.
- Software verification and cryptographic erase checks
- Report structure: certificate on page 1, summary from page 2
- Checking a report by its ID
Troubleshooting
Fixes for the problems people actually hit: a USB stick that will not boot, a drive that is not detected, a failed licence activation, a slow erasure.
- Boot and detection issues
- Interrupted erasures and verification failures
- Performance and multi-drive throughput
The complete manuals are File Eraser, Drive Eraser, Drive Verifier, Autopilot Detection and Drive Diagnostic. File Eraser works inside a running operating system and targets selected data, so its manual focuses on choosing what to erase and scheduling tasks. Drive Eraser runs from a bootable x64 USB drive with UEFI and Secure Boot support, outside the installed operating system, so its manual starts with preparing the boot media and walks through detection, method selection, verification and reports. The Drive Verifier manual covers the read-back check that confirms an erased drive holds no recoverable data, and the Autopilot Detection manual covers enrollment checks before a device is resold. The Drive Diagnostic manual covers the hardware tests and drive health checks of the Diagnostic add-on, which grades each machine from A to D.
PDF Guides by Edition
Overview, customer guide and PXE network boot guide for Drive Eraser and each add-on combination, and the PXE guide for standalone Autopilot Detection. Each PDF opens in a new tab.

Reports, Verification and Records
What every erasure produces, and where to find the documentation for it.
Every erasure in Drive Eraser and File Eraser produces a signed report. Page 1 is the erasure certificate; page 2 onward is the detailed summary of the drive or files, the method and the result. Reports are produced as PDF and JSON, hashed with SHA-256 and signed with a 2048-bit key, so any change to a report breaks its signature. A ledger of erasures is kept in the D-Secure backend, and reports are stored in the report repository of the admin console, where administrators also manage users and licences.
Three documents cover this area. The verification methods guide explains how an erasure is checked and what happens when verification does not pass. The report management pages in the help manual show how to find, preview and save reports. The report verification page lets anyone enter the report ID printed on a report and confirm it was issued by D-Secure and has not been changed.
D-Secure methods follow NIST SP 800-88, and the reports help you document sanitization for internal audits, customers and regulators. Your own policy decides which records to keep and for how long.
